The iconic Ahuriri bond store rebuild was a rare project few builders get the opportunity to complete in their careers. The eleven-metre tall, three-storey building was leaking. It needed a remodel and a rebuild that accentuated the old structure and improved the design.
We wrapped the building to begin the project, then set about the huge task of rebuilding. In total, we used nine kilometres of four-by-two framing, entirely measured, cut and nailed by hand in the custon design of the apartment-style house.
The finished build has a steel exterior, superb white-on-white decor and a renovated courtyard compound garden from the original building. The design includes a downstairs living area with two levels of living space above, each with separate entrances.
